“This seems ridiculous to ask, but are you somehow able to control the fog?” Jessica asked as she hurried to keep stride with Ori.
Ori looked back at her as if deciding whether to answer. Then he said, “Not all fog. But we do utilize fog and mist as needed.”
“How so?” she asked.
“With this,” Ori said, pointing to the device on his wrist. It was a black, likely Swiss-made timepiece with a rubber wristband.
“You did that with a watch?” Jessica was intrigued. “How is that possible?”
Ori stopped at the crosswalk. “It looks like a standard watch, but if you just…” he pressed and held his finger against the face. As he did that, the face transformed into the most intricate skeleton watch that Jessica had ever seen. “This allows us to modify and tap into various frequencies.”
Ori surveyed the street. No cars were coming, so he crossed. “We use these if we want to communicate with nature, trees, move through frequencies. But we disguise them a bit,” Ori held up his wrist, “so we don’t attract unwanted attention.” Ori tapped his finger on the watch’s face, and it turned back into the black wristwatch.
“So, did you just say that you communicate with trees?” Jessica asked. Not to mention move through frequencies, but one thing at a time.
Ori looked at Jessica and shook his head, his face turning slightly sad. “What did they do to you?” He continued, “The science is quite simple, and people have known about plants’ ability to understand humans for years.”
“What do you mean understand humans?” Jessica asked.
“It can mean many things. I’m assuming you’re loosely familiar with lie-detector technology, from movies, if nothing else?”
Jessica nodded.
“The approach is to use electrodes to send electrical currents through your finger or chest to measure heart rate, blood pressure, and breath, all to gauge whether there’s an emotional response to questions or situations.”
“Okay, I’m tracking with you.”
“Well, there was a CIA interrogator and lie-detector expert named Cleve Backster who tested this approach on plants as well. He noticed that plants had an electrical reaction to stimulants in their environment, similar to that of human beings. Plants had even emitted energy that made them look like they were dead when they thought someone would kill them.”
“Wow, to what extent is this understood?” Jessica asked.
“Plants, trees, nature have a physical reaction to their environment, including to humans. They can read your energy, your vibes, your actions. And these plants and trees are part of a network more massive than you can fathom. This energy gets absorbed into the Earth, aggregated, and projected back out again. The energy and light that Earth reflects is a combination of the collective energy from everything that lives on it.” Ori walked over to a tree, breathed deeply, and placed his hand on the bark. Jessica felt a misty breeze and saw the branches sway delicately. “It’s part of our responsibility to observe and listen. Communicating with and through trees is a hard concept to wrap your head around, especially if you think that a plant’s role is simply to clean the air and allow you to breathe. Everything has a purpose beyond what you think. And every element, including human beings, is tightly interconnected.”
“Why can’t more people communicate with trees?” Jessica asked.
“People do. People communicate with nature all the time, many unconsciously, but many consciously as well. You just don’t pay attention to the stories.”
Jessica started to object but stopped short. “I guess that’s possible. It’d be a little hard to believe.”
“Exactly. Imagine that you’ve never met me, and we’ve never had this conversation. What would you think?”
Jessica thought about it and sighed. “I’d probably think that there was something a little off with those claiming conscious communication.”
“And that’s the problem. People who know these things, this ancient wisdom, aren’t in hiding. They are just incredibly selective about with whom they share their wisdom.”
“Yet you’re sharing this wisdom with me?”
“Because if you are going to come to the Point, I need you to open your mind to a new universe of possibilities. You will learn things that will shake the very foundation of your existence. Suspend your disbelief, and everything will become clear. But first,” Ori pulled on the door handle of her rental car, “we need to go see someone.”
