FAITH
“I can see how it might be possible for a man to look down upon the earth and be an atheist, but I cannot conceive how he could look up into the heavens and say there is no God.”
—Abraham Lincoln
We often hear people say, “I’ll believe it when I see it!” But, in fact, you have to believe to see! Unfortunately, these people must not notice the miracles that surround them. We are surrounded by miracles every day. You just have to observe the beauty of nature to see it. It starts with the sunrise—what a miracle in and of itself! Then notice the snow melting day after day in the spring, leaving nature to wake up after a long winter. What a miracle it is to see the new grass having the courage to poke through the dead grass underneath! Life begins again. Nature renews itself every year as if by magic. The birds sing their songs that seem to tell other animals to wake up, because spring is in the air. Nature continues its cycle until summer, when the flowers are opening and deciduous trees are in full bloom! It is all so miraculous!
Every evening, the sun sets and the moon rises in turn. The stars shine and watch over us, comforting us and cooling us after a hot summer day.
This cycle allows the earth to produce food for animals, nests for their young, and heat for their survival. In the fall, the animals prepare for the winter months, a time when everything will rest and recharge before coming alive again in the spring. But notice that trees grow several inches every year, and every spring they do not start at zero but continue their evolution from year to year, just like us.
The cycle of days and seasons is proof that there is something bigger than us out there that ensures our survival.
Do you not see that same magic in your own life? Have you not noticed how magically things always seem to work out? That just like the birds, you were never really missing anything? That you have always met the right person at the right time? And how things have always fallen into place for you, as if by chance?
Just as God and the angels care for the animals and the plants, they care for you and your survival. They have always been there beside you. God has sent angels to protect you and guide you toward a better life that is in line with the deepest desires of your heart, and this without you even asking.
Imagine what they could do if you asked!
Often, when I make a special request, I end it with the following phrase: “I know, God and my darling angels, that you care for the birds and I know you also care for me.” I have complete faith. I believe that God and the angels are there for me. I know they want me to be happy and to fulfill my life’s purpose. So I know that if I ask them for something that will help me fulfill my purpose, that will help me better serve others, this request will be granted.
God has planted a seed of passion in each one of our hearts. He has given us all the gifts we need, provided us with all the right tools, and even sent us loving divine helpers we call angels to help us achieve our dreams. Be confident that if you have a dream that is dear to your heart and you do your part to achieve it, God and the angels will do everything they can to help make your dream come true. This is where we must have faith. Just as we can be certain that the caterpillar will turn into a butterfly one day, you too will be transformed into a state of unimaginable beauty and grace.
Dare to dream! Dare to ask! Dare to believe!
EXERCISE
We often hear people say, “I’ll believe it when I see it! “ But when it comes to faith, you have to believe to see!
Take a look at your life and see all the times when you were loved and supported through a difficult period. Make a list of all the times you have been afraid of not having enough, afraid to change, to move, to love, or to take a risk, and remember how things have always worked out for you, how you’ve always been cared for, and how you’ve always succeeded no matter what.
When you pray to God and the angels for something specific, end it with this phrase:“I know, God and my loving angels, that you care for the birds and I know you also care for me.”
