he next day William replied to Angela. "Saw your text late at night. But you were right. We have taken the congresswoman in custody for allowing illegal permits and illegal transport activity. Apparently, she had been embezzling funds, too.
Thank you for the tip. We are hoping she will give us a name. For now, she is feigning ignorance and has called for a lawyer."
Angela typed back, "Great news. Surprised you were able to get a warrant so quickly. But good luck!"
Meanwhile, on the other hand, May had set her plans in motion. That morning was a result of mourning in a lot of houses. Ryan Fuseli was getting blasted on all media channels as many of David's industry friends had come forth to not only share their experiences with Ryan but also support Charlotte in her claims.
Everyone agreed that Fuseli was an addict who did not know how to carry himself in a social setting and was often found manhandling many of his fellow mates. Their tweets had spread like wildfire, and more people believed Charlotte's story.
Charlotte's story was getting more and more media coverage, something it had been denied before. People on all social media platforms were sending love to Charlotte and telling her to stay strong, as everyone abused and canceled David. There was even a protest being organized at the end of the week to call for Ryan Fuseli to be put behind bars. Trends were all the rage.
On the other hand, it was as if the sky had fallen down in the Carlos household. Mathew Carlos had received an anonymous letter with every last detail of his wife's fraud, along with the picture of the vase. And he was categorically warned to stop supporting Alveris or the sender would go public with its findings.
Joshua and May had been staking out in front of his house since last night. Joshua was able to disconnect the cameras, so they would stop recording, which gave May enough time to go and place the package in front of his front door. When Mathew Carlos came out of his house the next day, a pleasant surprise greeted him.
What seemed to be an ordinary package was a source of fights, telling, and throwing things in the Carlos household. Suffice to say, Carlos was panicking. He was losing his mind. He didn't know who had unearthed all his wife's misdeeds. He ran out to see who had left the package there; he searched his grounds and the streets outside them but couldn't find who had left the package.
His hands and legs were shaking and trembling, there was sweat all over his face, and it looked as if he was about to throw up. May and Joshua couldn't help but laugh as they saw him, from the comfort of their car, parked a mile away but just enough in radius to catch and tap into the connections of his security camera.
Something similar happened with Liam Brathwaite. He also happened to receive an anonymous package at work with details of his messages with the Russian warlord. He was asked to relinquish his duties as the judge of the high court at once, or the details would be made public.
Once the details went public, Liam knew the cost, for a reason, was high. This meant inviting death upon himself. Not only would he be interrogated by the federal agents himself for conspiracy against the state, but also, he will be killed by the Russian Ops in case he spilled any details.
So, while the media was raging about Charlotte, the news of Liam Brathwaite quitting the house of justice and giving up his right to practice nearly broke the internet and the media houses. In his tweet, he declared, "I have decided to give up my practices as a lawyer and a defender of justice and relinquish my duties as judge from this day forth.
The news will be as surprising to you as it is to me, but lately, I have realized that I want to dedicate my efforts full time to my humanitarian pursuits and give up the corporate life, no matter how fulfilling it is. David sent a screenshot of that tweet to Angela. "Wow! What a jackass. Is that how he has been fooling the world for all these years? With these sweet yet utterly hollow words! I'm damned. Hope this guy gets worse than what he deserves."
"Couldn't agree more," Angela replied. On the other hand, Joshua and May were having their own kick out of Liam's tweet. What a lie he had come up with.
