Loretta Proctor was born in Cairo, Egypt to an English father and Greek mother who met in Athens during WWII. She has written two previous novels, The Long Shadow, set during the first World War in Salonika, and The Crimson Bed, set in mid-Victorian London. She also writes poetry and is pleased to be a distant relation of Elizabeth Barrett-Browning. Loretta lives in Malvern with her husband and enjoys working in her beautiful garden. She has two grown-up children.
