Dear reader,
for years after I wrote book 4 of the Alien Mate Index series, people kept emailing me, wanting to know when book 5 was coming out. They expected that the book should be about Mandrex, the Cantor with the crippled wings. I thought it ought to be too, but then something happened—my Muse just wouldn’t go there. This happens to me sometimes—I lose the thread of a story, much to my regret. In this situation, my only option is to either abandon the whole series, or start again with new characters when the Muse finally comes through with another idea.
Well, I didn’t want to abandon the series—I love the AMI world and I hope you do, too. So when the Muse finally came up with a new idea, I ran with it. I hope you will forgive me for pushing Mandrex to the back burner for now and enjoy reading the story of Elli and the huge Korrigon Overlord who takes her for his “Pet” as much as I have enjoyed writing it.
Never fear—you’ll see some familiar faces here. We are not starting from scratch, just taking a journey with different characters in the same universe. I still hope to write Mandrex’s book someday, but in the meantime, I’m going to keep exploring the world of the AMI and I hope you’ll come along with me and enjoy the ride.
