HERE’S A QUICK SAMPLER of some of my favorite textural mediums to incorporate into acrylic paintings. Don’t be afraid to try something new. You’ll find that the possibilities are endless with these versatile supplies.
Fiber paste dries opaque with a rough, paper-like texture.
Try tinting any of your pastes with a few drops of acrylic paint to change the look of your textured layer.
Apply modeling paste with a palette knife to achieve a variety of plaster-like textures. It dries to an opaque finish. Light modeling paste is best over paper or canvas. Heavy modeling paste is best on wood or a hard surface.
Glass beads dry clear on a surface. Once dried, you can still see the under layers.
Experiment and use more than one textural medium in your work to achieve a variety of interesting looks. Consider using stencils with your mediums to create a pattern.
