Finishing With Pouring Medium

1 Add Pouring Medium to the Center

Add pouring medium over the top of your dried composition. Start pouring the medium in the center and let it spread naturally.

2 Spread the Pouring Medium

Take a large spatula-style palette knife and smooth out the pouring medium until it is evenly applied over the entire piece.

3 Drop Paint Into the Medium

Another way to add dimension is to use a Fineline applicator to drop paint into the pouring medium. The more fluid your acrylic paint is, the more it will bloom into the pouring medium.

4 Let the Piece Dry

Allow the piece to dry at least twenty-four hours before you handle it. Depending on your area’s climate and humidity, drying could take several days. The result is faux resin, or a glasslike topcoat. The paint colors underneath will be enhanced as well.
