Rocky Mountain National Park

East Edge

Trails closest to the town of Estes Park on the east edge of Rocky Mountain National Park are very worthwhile and popular. Three enjoyable trails near Mile Marker 6 south of Estes Park along CO 7—Twin Sisters Peaks, Storm Pass, and Homer Rouse—radiate from Lily Lake. A wheelchair-accessible trail completed in 1997 with privately donated funds circles Lily Lake. The increasingly popular Lily Mountain Trail begins along not-so-wide shoulders of CO 7 in Roosevelt National Forest 0.4 mile downhill from Lily Lake, somewhat ominously at the site of an emergency telephone.
