Dear Reader,

I am one of those people who love summer. I can’t seem to get enough of the colors, the sounds and the scents of long sunshine-filled days. As a Canadian, I know all too well about the cold, dark, dreary days of winter.

And so, when I was looking for a feeling for this book, I chose California. From my visits there, it seems to be a place of ceaseless summer, happy energy and exciting vibrancy.

Both Allie, the heroine of this story, and Sam, the hero, had experienced a kind of winter of the soul. I felt they needed carefree days against the backdrop of sun and sand, bonfires, and fireworks to thaw, to heal and to allow the warmth of love back into their lives.

So, in whatever season you are reading this book, my wish is that it transports you to the laughter-filled, revitalizing days of an endless summer.

With warmest wishes,

Cara Colter
