LENNY WAS THE ONLY ONE FOR ME, BUT THAT DIDN’T mean everything went smoothly from that point on. For one thing, freeing myself of Dave was not as simple as I thought it would be. Even after I sent him a strongly worded letter I kept getting calls, letters, and even a surprise visit from him as he attempted to beg, plead, convince, and threaten me to come back to him. Each time I heard from Dave it rekindled those hurt feelings the relationship with him had created.
Still, Lenny and I got through it together, as well as the major problems we still had with parents, school, work, health, friends, and the minor unexpected difficulties that everyday life seemed constantly to throw our way. Each obstacle we managed to conquer served to bring us that much closer together and make our love grow that much more.
True to form, when we finally did get married, it was under the most difficult of circumstances. But that’s a whole other story, and one that I might decide to tell someday. What’s important to know now is that, despite the problems, difficulties, and obstacles, we made it. Lenny and I are still together and still loving each other today.
