AFTERWORDS
As it was in the beginning, so shall it be in the end.
Wow! What an incredible feeling!!! To relive all these events of my lifetime and put together these fourteen songs for your listening pleasure. Yes, each chapter is like a song for me. And I appreciate that you have taken the time to listen.
My friend Mike Watson from midnightraverblog.com (a very good writer in his own right) told me at lunch recently that my purpose in writing this book was to document my legacy. I disagreed with him but he continued to push his point—and I guess you can say he was right. To share with you some of my experiences and what they have taught me. Clearly, the half I have told still leaves another half that is untold, and so it shall remain.
Today, as I approach sixty, I have many interests that keep me busy. After living through the contraction of the music business, I have now launched a Caribbean food company. Inventing new products to excite the palates of people around the world while at the same time promoting the positive aspects of Jamaican culture, in the same manner as I did with RAS and my mission to spread positive reggae music. And somehow, again with the grace of God, the music and food are now working together to carry one another to higher heights.
But what is most remarkable to me is that my publishing company, Tafari Music, has been reunited with RAS Records by virtue of a worldwide publishing deal I have made with BMG, which recently purchased the RAS catalog. Ras Tafari. Together again, and with Doctor Dread at the helm of the ship. I and I know that only Jah Almighty could have made this happen. There is no other explanation.
They say the gift of God is eternal life, and I have come to believe that we have children who in turn have children, and so on, and that a part of us remains alive for-iver in the spirit of our offspring. As I watch my youth grow into men I can see how life does go on and nothing really remains unchanged.
I have always left it in Jah’s hands to set before I my destiny, knowing that I must do my part to ensure that I can achieve my goals while at the same time having faith that Jah does protect I and I. My life has been a blessing and whatever else is in store for me will come and I will always give thanks.
Jah guide and protect you all,
