For a long time, as witness bloody pages of history and impassioned pages of literature, Bulgaria has claimed Macedonia, both politically and ethnically. The Macedonian question may be summed up in the story of Mr Omerić, which was told me by Adam Wandruszka. Omerić, who was so called under the lugoslav monarchy, became Omerov during the Bulgarian occupation in the Second World War and then Omerski for the Republic of Macedonia, which is part of the Jugoslav federation. His original name, Omer, was Turkish.
