I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
—PHILIPPIANS 4:13
I AM PRETTY TALL for my age, so all the football coaches at school really wanted me to play football. At first I didn’t like football because it’s a lot of hard work and it gets very hot in Louisiana. When I get tired and discouraged, I remember this verse, and it gives me strength to keep practicing and working hard. I know that as I get older, I might get in situations that will be even harder than football, like friends who might tempt me to do things I know I shouldn’t do. When that happens, I will be able to find the strength to say no because God will be on my side cheering me on. This verse promises me that. Whether it’s football, schoolwork, or standing strong against sin, God will give me the strength.
Prayer
Father, I thank You for standing beside me and helping me to be strong. I want to be able to stand up for You and to tell others about what You have done for me. Help me to always look to You, amen.
