To my awesome readers

This is where I ramble about my thoughts on the book and offer up some interesting tidbits. I’m obsessed with watching all the behind-the-scenes stuff on the shows and movies and books I love, so I thought I’d leave all that stuff here for the readers that enjoy that kind of stuff too.

I never thought I’d write historical fiction, but I absolutely love it now! I stumbled upon it when I entered a contest. The rules were: write a short story in one week with three random prompts. My prompts were historical fiction, a mute character, and a rocket. I won the first round of the contest and it opened my eyes to this wonderful genre (the short story that came out of that contest will be available soon—yippee!!).

Let’s talk about sex. Yeah, baby. I really enjoyed exploring the characters through all their sexual encounters, which I’ve never really done before. I love reading steamy romances but this is the first time I didn’t “fade to black” during a sex scene. It reminded me of what I told anyone that asked me my opinion of 50 Shades of Grey; keep your husbands and partners close while reading. You’re gonna need ’em. ;) My husband is especially thrilled for this new series, since he was a vital part of my research. You’re welcome, honey.

I LOVE Jack and Josephine but I’ll be honest, I really love the next book in the series, Ruby’s Passion. It starts on the wedding night of Ruby and James when Ruby finds out something shocking and devastating about her new husband. From there it’s a titillating ride of self-discovery and forgiveness (and lots of sexy time). Oh la la.

If there are any errors from the historical side of this book, I apologize. I’ve researched and done my best to stay true to the era, but I’m not a scholar of The Gilded Age or pioneer times, just a fan. Plus I like the whole sex-is-forbidden thing back then. I mean, I don’t want to live during that time! Hell no! I just like writing characters who break out of those sexual restraints.

As always a big thank you to everyone who helped make this book happen (my editors, designers, fellow writers) and to my amazing street team: Mary Mutisya-Astin, Angela Dunning, Joyce Fritz, Pat Michinko, Jann Forrest, Jennifer Hevern, Sandra Singleton, Terri Trawets, Teresa Stump, Teresa Price, Jill A. Freeman, Pat Walley, Sheila Wellworth.

And something completely random: I named Jack after another character I was obsessed with while writing this book: Inspector Jack Robinson from Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries. By no means is the character in my book modeled after him, but I was feeling a void in my heart and loins when I got to the end of the TV series and on a whim decided to give a little wink to my fandom of the series by using Inspector Robinson’s name. Sigh.

Until we meet again fabulous readers...

xoxo
