35Frame effectively criticizes the view that there is such a thing as a “formal” worship service that is more regulated by the Word of God than any other part of life. This is one of the unfortunate results of failure to recognize how Christ has transmuted Christian worship so as to include all of life (see Worship in Spirit and Truth, 37–49). It is ironic that the two major protagonists in the “worship wars”—the contemporary charismatic praise-and-worship movement and those advocating return to traditional worship—both seem to hold a similar (unbalanced) view of worship that sees the worship service as being sharply different from the rest of Christian living and gathering.
