MORE EGLOMISE!

An inexpensive picture frame can easily be turned into a chic serving tray for appetizers or cocktails using the same technique I used on the glass tabletop. (The frame might not be sturdy enough to carry around with drinks on it, so set it down first and put things on it. Learned that the hard way.)

MATERIALS: picture frames, small round sponge brush, paints (one dark, one lighter, and a metallic), squeeze bottle, water, double-sided tape, tissue or wrapping paper

images Carefully place the glass on a protected surface and, using the sponge brush, dot the glass with the darkest paint in a spiral pattern.

images In a small squeeze bottle, mix a lighter paint with water in a 1:1 ratio. Shake well. Hold the squeeze bottle straight up and down and drip paint over the darker paint dots to cover.

images Finish by adding accent dots in metallic paint.

images Allow to dry. Using double-sided tape, affix the tissue or wrapping paper as backing and reassemble in picture frame . . . and go make some drinks!

Decorative or solid card stock or heavy paper can be cut to the size of the glass and placed between the glass and backing when framing. Alternatively, “wrap” the backing with tissue/wrapping paper—like a gift—before assembling the frame.
