It’s hard to say what the length of a pencil skirt should be. A lot of it depends on body type and what kind of shoe you’re going to be wearing it with.
The ideal silhouette ends just below the kneecap, but a petite woman wearing a flat shoe can get away with a pencil skirt hemmed just above the knee.
For an A-line skirt, you can have it hemmed to fall just below the kneecap or at mid-kneecap.

• Taking in a pencil skirt along the side seams. Sure, it can technically be done, but why bother when a skirt in another size or from another manufacturer will give you a more streamlined look.
