You wouldn’t believe the look on my face when I called myself being nice and going to visit Flame to break the tension between us and my visit was denied. By now the guards knew me from visiting Flame at least twice a week, but today they looked at me with some pity in their eyes as they shook their head no. I didn’t know what kind of games Flame was playing, but for him to deny my visit or call himself putting me on the “block list” really had soured my entire mood.
I had spent all this time thinking of how I would make things right with him all to get up to the jail to be treated worse than a prisoner. I was about to go slam off, but I remembered that I wasn’t even that girl, the girl who made a scene over a man or even the girl who couldn’t accept the fact that something was no more. I stomped all the way to my car even pissed at the sun for shining too brightly on me. Once, I finally got in my car I banged my hand against the stirring wheel all the while cursing Flame’s name. I know y’all are wondering why I’m so mad but being rejected is the worst for me and Flame knew that based on my past relationships.
I drove off into traffic happy that the jail was only about thirty minutes from my home. I planned to dive straight in my bed while putting my phone on Do Not disturb. I swerved in and out of traffic not giving a damn about the speed limit or stop lights. This was the shit that men did to you, they would have you out driving recklessly not even valuing your own life let alone the life of others.
I started to feel my phone vibrate through my pursed and I fished through it, looking up at the road every few seconds. When I finally found it, I had to mash my damn breaks so hard because I was thirty seconds from ramming into the back of another car.
“Hello!” I answered, frantically.
“Pia, it’s me Elle,” I heard the voice say and I looked at the screen to see that the number was private.
“Elle, what is up girl and when are you bringing your ass home!” It had been days since Elle had first called me and since then she had been on my mind heavy.
“I’m not coming home Pia, well not anytime soon, but I didn’t call to talk about me. How are you?”
I frowned her face up at the phone not believing that Elle would think that she could have a regular conversation when she had been missing for almost two months and had everyone worried to death.
Just when I was about to lay into her ass, I heard the horn beeping from a car that was across from me. I looked over ready to curse whoever out and I noticed that it was the guy, who’s car I had hit a couple days ago. He signaled for me to roll down my window as he sat behind a big body Benz smirking. This was the third car that I had seen him with.
I rolled my window down and he started in on me.
“Yo, you so busy yapping on the phone that you are about to cause ANOTHER accident.”
“Hello!” Elle said, into the phone and I had forgot that was still there.
“Hold on girl!”
I focused back on Ri and just like the first time I had met him, I noticed how smokin’ he was. His big brown eyes paired with his copper colored skin probably drove many ladies wild. He sat there smiling waiting for me to say something, and once I finally snapped out of it, Flame’s ugly ass popped in my head making me mad all over again.
“Mind your fucking business!” I snapped back.
“Damn baby, you are spacey just like I like them.”
“Spice these nuts nigga!” I said, and then sped off. I didn’t have time to go back and forth with him at the light like I didn’t have better things to do. Nigga had better get the fuck on.
“PIA PIA! Are you okay?” I heard from the phone.
“Yeah girl. I just had to cuss a nigga out, but how are you though and where are you at?”
“I’m in Ohio, but you cannot tell anyone.”
“OHIOOOO!” I yelled. “Girl how did you get there and who the hell would I tell?”
“Really P, you know exactly who you would tell and yeah I just needed a fresh start so here I am.”
I pulled up to the Walmart because I needed to get a few things before I went in the house. looking in my rearview mirror, I noticed Ri’s smoke gray Benz pulling up behind me. This nigga was asking to be pepper sprayed.
Elle was saying something, and I cut her off. “Girl you need to get your ass home. Calling me from blocked numbers and all of that. Whatever yo’ ass did is not that bad! Call me when you are ready for me to book your plane ticket and be safe. Love you,” I abruptly hung up the phone before she was even able to respond. I was a little over this Casper the friendly ghost game that she was playing. She needed to face whatever she was running form so that she could move on from it.
“What the hell do you think you are doing?” I asked, as soon as my feet hit the pavement outside of my car.
Ri was just getting out wearing nothing but a tank top and gray jogging pants. My eyes explored his body just until they stopped at his print. This man was standing out here just packing for no reason at all. Once I looked back up he just stood there smirking.
“You like what you see?” he asked.
“Don’t get cute! Why are you following me!”
“Shorty last time I checked; this was Walmart, a public place.”
“So, out of all of the places you could go, you just happened to be going to Walmart at the same time as me?” I asked.
“Shorty you are wasting my time,” he said, with the shake of his head before he walked past me.
I didn’t know whether to finish my cursing out or what, but I just stood there standing for a few minutes before finally picked my face up from the ground and went into the store. I grabbed few things and about thirty minutes later when I made it to my car, there was a card attached. I flung it in my purse and made my way home.
