Record Breakers
- The heaviest dog ever to have lived is believed to be Zorba, an English Mastiff who weighed an incredible 343 pounds in 1989.
- During the 2009 X Games in Los Angeles, an English Bulldog called Tillman propelled himself one hundred metres on a skateboard in just 19.68 seconds.
- The tallest dog ever to have lived was called Giant George; he was a Great Dane who lived with his owner in Tucson, Arizona and measured an incredible 43 inches at the withers. He sadly died in October 2013.
- The smallest adult living dog in the world (in 2014) was declared as Miracle Milly, a Chihuahua who measures just 3.8 inches from backbone to paw.
- A Basset hound called Mr Jeffries holds the record for the dog with the longest ears - his measured an amazing 29.2 cm each!
- The fastest domestic dog breed is believed to be the Greyhound, which can reach speeds of up to 45 mph in a straight line.
- The dog with the longest tongue ever measured was a Boxer by the name of Brandy. Her tongue was an incredible seventeen inches long!
- The world’s oldest dog was an incredible 29 years and five months old when he died in 1939. Bluey was an Australian Cattle Dog who worked with cattle and sheep for most of his long life.
- The highest recorded jump that a dog has even cleared in competition was 68 inches tall - it was conquered by Cinderella May the Greyhound.
- One unusual record belongs to Anastasia the Jack Russell, who is famous for popping 100 balloons in the shortest amount of time - just 44.49 seconds!
A Chihuahua
