Choosing the Best Study Plan for You

There’s a lot of material to review before the AP exam, so it’s essential to have a solid game plan that optimizes your available study time. To that end, we developed three study plan options that provide content review recommendations whether you have 2 months, 1 month, or 2 weeks to prepare for the exam. Check out the perforated study plan card at the front of the book for full details of each; the highlights are listed below:

2-MONTH STUDY PLAN
3–9 hours each week
3 Practice Exams
10 Online Quizzes
1-MONTH STUDY PLAN
7–10 hours each week
2 Practice Exams
5 Online Quizzes
2-WEEK STUDY PLAN
4–15 hours each week
1 Practice Exam

2-Month Study Plan

The 2-Month Study Plan is ideal if you have at least eight weeks to study for the AP World History exam. This plan offers the most comprehensive practice, recommending you complete all three full-length practice exams in addition to all 100 online quiz questions. To help you streamline your practice, use your performance in each Test What You Already Know section to determine how much material you will cover in the Complete Time Period Review chapters. If you have more than eight weeks to study, simply spread out the activities listed to fit the time you have.

1-Month Study Plan

The 1-Month Study Plan is for you if you have at least a month to study. During the four weeks, we suggest you complete two practice exams and half (about 50) of the online quiz questions in addition to the Targeted Review and Practice chapters. Furthermore, your performance in each Test What You Already Know section will determine how much material you will cover in the Complete Time Period Review chapters. If you have a few additional weeks to prepare, feel free to give yourself more time to complete the activities listed to fit the time you have.

2-Week Study Plan

The 2-Week Study Plan is your best option if you have less than one month to study. To make the most of your time, we suggest completing one practice exam in addition to the Targeted Review and Practice chapters. Your performance in each Test What You Already Know section as well as how much time you have before the official exam will determine how much material you will cover in the Complete Time Period Review chapters. If you have a little more than two weeks to study, spend more time on—or add to—the list of activities to fit the time you have.

After you’ve made your selection, tear out the perforated study plan page, separate the bookmark that contains your choice of plan, and use it to keep track of both your place in the book and your progress in the plan. You can further customize any of the study plans by skipping over chapters or sections that you’ve already mastered or by adjusting the recommended time to better suit your schedule.
