Author Note

Most characters I’ve written have seemed alive to me, and the little boy Stubby is foremost among them.

Stubby was instrumental in my first published novel, Safe in the Earl’s Arms, and in my second, A Captain and a Rogue. I hated to leave him behind because I loved writing about his joy for life and his rebel spirit.

Now I’ve brought him back for a brief appearance in this book and his own happily-ever-after. I hope the former seafaring cabin boy touches your imagination as much as he did mine.
