Afterword

Thank you for taking the time to read The Hawk and His Boy. I began writing The Tormay Trilogy back in the year 2000, during a snowy Chicago winter. It was a labor of love, inspired by all the reading and dreaming I'd done, ever since I was a child. I hope some of my own enjoyment in the creation of the story shines through. The Hawk and His Boy, however, is merely the beginning of the tale of Jute and the land of Tormay. It was never intended to be read on its own, but should be followed up with The Shadow at the Gate and The Wicked Day. I hope you have the chance to read those two books as well.

Thanks to Jen Ballinger for copy-editing this book. Also, thanks to Alexey Aparin and Ron Eddy for designing the cover, and Jared Blando for drawing the map. I greatly appreciate the time and honesty of my test readers: Jaemen Kennedy, Frank Troya, Wayne and Jessica Collingwood, Scott Mathias, Dave Palshaw, Rob and Sandra Kammerzell, and the various long-suffering members of the Bunn family (David, Michael, Jodi, Benjamin, Micha, Megan and, of course, Jessica).

Anyway, if you enjoyed The Hawk and His Boy, please take the time to tell a friend or leave a review wherever you found my writing. I greatly depend on such kindness from readers to help spread the word about my stories. Thank you.
