I finally figured out what happened when Lou lost control and he wasn't bound by the forest.
It was like a meteor hit the earth. Everyone, including the soldiers, were thrown off their feet. I saw the witch take cover at the last second, but I wasn't sure if that was going to be enough. We were shielded by Lou and it still knocked us all down.
I was laying still and I realized that whatever force the Oracles had used to keep us in was gone. That's what Lou had been aiming for. He had meant to open it again.
When I sat up, I realized he had done just that. He had also knocked down most of the buildings in the town square and a great many trees.
We were all scattered around. Dante was furthest away, closest to the forest. Celia, Savannah, and Gerri were on the other side of the town square and Gerri was pulling them to their feet.
Lou and I were closest to where Azolata had been pinned against a wall. He was no longer there and I looked wildly around for him.
Lou sat up and I could see him trembling. He had probably tapped out all of his resources destroying what the Oracles had created.
"Run!" Celia screamed.
I could feel her compelling me, so I helped Lou to his feet and we ran.
A few of the soldiers had survived and as we ran, I heard the crack of a gun.
I heard Celia scream but when she compelled me to do something, there was no choice in the matter. I had to keep running.
With Lou in my arms, I ran.
