In 1866, the house and 150 acres were sold to Joseph Turner at $150 per acre. Turner’s Mill, which is across the street (the current township building), is named after him. In 1892, the title of the property was transferred to Turner’s wife, Eliza. In 1906, Chris Sanderson and his mother moved into the eastern half of the house. The other half was occupied by the Guss sisters, who were Quaker women. Sometime after 1913, the property was owned by Richard M. Atwater and Arthur H. Cleveland, Sr. The Sandersons moved out in 1922. The Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission purchased the property with a small amount of acreage in 1949 from the Richard M. Atwater Estate, Arthur Cleveland, Jr., and Ethelwyn Cleveland Rice.
