Avocado

The lovely avocado tree (Persea Americana) has a cheerful, magical, and reassuring vibe that instantly confers a sense of happiness and well-being. With a fruit that is not only highly nutritious but also the very essence of delicious sensuality; an oil that possesses numerous beautifying benefits; and bark, leaves, and rinds with medicinal properties, it certainly seems like a tree that one would find in paradise. Indeed, avocado is a gift that keeps on giving—which is especially amazing when you realize that all her benefits can be exponentially yours for a lifetime if you simply choose to coax a single avocado pit into becoming a tree.

Magical Uses

Beauty

Am I crazy or can you actually feel yourself getting more beautiful while eating a fresh avocado? You can, right? Perhaps this is due to the avocado’s vitality-boosting ingredients, but I suspect there’s an energetic component as well: the fruit simply radiates vivacity and sumptuous beauty. Furthermore, avocado seed oil is amazing for the skin, hair, and scalp and so is a mashed avocado: try spreading one all over your neck, chest, face, and hair as an all-over beautifying mask.

On the vibrational side of things, a dried avocado pit can be an excellent beauty charm, particularly when paired with an attraction-enhancing scent such as jasmine, sandalwood, or rose. If it’s sunny out and you know of an avocado tree, you might simply spend some time in quiet contemplation with the tree, consciously allowing yourself to soak up her beautifying vibes.

Hair Growth

Here’s a magical treatment to promote hair growth to be performed on the night after the new moon and then again on the night before the full moon. Before bed, rub avocado oil into your scalp. Then wash your hair in the morning, massaging your scalp thoroughly with the pads of your fingers. Repeat during following moon cycles as desired.

Healing

An ointment of the mashed avocado fruit has been used to help heal wounds and soothe skin irritations. On an emotional level, a nice bowl of guacamole served with tortilla chips can be quite the comfort food to help repair frayed nerves or an aching heart. Or during a waning moon, you might mentally direct any persistent pain or illness into an avocado pit and then bury it at the base of an avocado tree.

Love

Avocado is known for her love-drawing properties. The blossom, also, is love drawing and mirrors its magnetic attraction action in the way that it is (remarkably) both feminine and masculine at once. As such, you might add avocado flower essence to your bathwater or drinking water in order to attract love into your life.

Magic Wands

According to author Scott Cunningham in Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs, “Magical wands made of avocado wood are potent all-purpose instruments.” If you feel drawn to craft a magic wand out of avocado wood, try affixing a small clear quartz or amethyst point to the end and anointing it with essential oils of neroli and ylang ylang. Tie the handle with silky or satiny green ribbon to support love, vitality, and prosperity: in addition to being everyone’s favorite magical intentions, they also happen to be avocado’s magical specialties.

Rebirth

The phoenix perennially rises from the flames as an archetypal symbol of rebirth. The wood used to build the fire in this ancient Egyptian legend was that of a persea tree, which is the same family from which the avocado hails.

Additionally, the fruit closely related to avocado (the exact identity of which is now apparently lost to history) was known as the “heart of Horus,” a god who would never have been born were it not for his father Osiris’s miraculous resurrection at the hands of his mother, the goddess Isis. What’s more, Osiris was resurrected after his casket had become hidden in the branches of a persea tree. Perhaps the tree’s powerful association with rebirth in Egypt is the reason the wood was included in Egyptian funeral bouquets. However, avocados were also included in ancient Aztec burial sites, indicating that the avocado’s association with rebirth seemingly transcends cultures and even spans oceans.

Sexual Attraction

The Aztecs were really intense in their attribution of lust-inducing powers to avocados. So much so that they reportedly believed that one would have quite a difficult time eating an avocado and remaining a virgin. When Spanish explorers introduced the fruit to European settlers, and even when the avocado was gaining popularity in the United States, this attached a certain fascination, as well as a certain taboo to eating the decadent fruit. In fact, at some point avocado growers felt compelled to run an ad campaign dismissing rumors of the avocado’s aphrodisiacal properties in order to increase mainstream acceptance of their product. Today, we know that the avocado is indeed chock-full of nutrients that support one’s sexual health. Of course, one can easily perceive that eating an avocado is an exceptionally sensual experience.

Serve avocados to promote sexual attraction in another and/or to increase your own libido or sexual health. And here’s a tip that may sound weird if you haven’t tried it before: avocados can be employed as the base for an insanely delicious (and insanely healthy) chocolate pudding. Seriously. Like this one that doubles as a love potion you can eat with a spoon:

Choco-Avocado Pudding Potion

The night or morning before sharing this dessert with a love interest (or potential love interest), hold two ripe avocados in your open palms and mentally direct a lovely pink light into them as you set the intention for and visualize what you desire.

Say:

Fruit of love and fruit of lust

Please help me in my aim—you must!

If hearts are willing and feelings true

Set passions loose between we two!

Cut and scoop the avocados and place them, 1 ripe banana, ½ cup unsweetened cacao powder, ½ cup almond butter, a dash salt, 2/3 cup maple syrup, and ¼ cup soy milk in a blender or food processor and blend. When the potion is smooth, fill 4–6 serving cups to the very top. (This way, if things get wild, you’ll have extras for later in the evening or the next few nights. It’s not ideal for an unsuspecting bystander to snack on one, but if it does happen, it won’t be the end of the world…and hey, let’s admit it: it might be entertaining.) Cover with plastic wrap or lids and chill for at least six hours. When it’s time to serve, top with dairy-free whipped cream and a dusting of cinnamon.

Vitality

The ancient Egyptians believed the persea (related to the avocado) tree to be present in the realm of the gods, and if you’re one of the many who enjoys the delectable experience of eating an avocado, you’re likely to agree that “food of the gods” certainly fits. In addition to filling you with the vitality that comes from the simple joy of eating something so ridiculously delicious, avocados are filled with potassium, vitamins, healthy fats, and even a good amount of protein. In fact, in West Africa, they’re employed as an ultra-nourishing baby food.

When my body feels run down and my digestion seems a bit sluggish, I’ll switch to a raw vegan diet for a week or two, and that fixes me right up. Guess what my main “meaty” staple is during this time. You bet: it’s avocados. By the end of my little detox, I am feeling downright exuberant. Glowing even! Thanks in large part—I am sure—to this most vitalizing delicacy. Avocados are a health supplement that literally grows on trees.

Wealth

Between the leaf, the rind, and the fleshy pulp, avocados are all shades of green. Not only that, but they are a treasure trove of expansion and sustenance in and of themselves: they nourish us, moisturize us, and even promote fertility in our species through promoting lust and sexual health. And—as I mentioned in the intro—the potential for a lifetime’s worth of their amazing benefits is miraculously contained within a single pit. Indeed, avocados are potent wealth charms in and of themselves: hold one in both hands and charge it with the intention to draw wealth. Then cut it up and put it in your salad. Eating it will allow you to internalize the magic and become a money magnet yourself. You can also incorporate the pits into prosperity rituals and charms, and the flower essence will help turn up the volume on your natural ability to magnetize.
