Dear Reader,

I wrote One Night Only while my dad was in the hospital and edited it right after he passed away. As I was editing this book, I realized that I modeled much of Minsung Han, Megan’s dad, after my own dad—especially his unconditional love for his daughters.

Of course the love story between Megan and Daniel is the heart of One Night Only, but the relationship between the heroine and her dad means so much to me. Without realizing it, I wrote it as a tribute to my dad and how much—how dearly—he loved me.

There is a scene in the story where Minsung Han says something poetic followed quickly by “I’m no poet.” It makes me smile and think “Yes, you are” because my dad was a poet. It’s like a little Easter egg I hid in the story for myself.

Working on this book held me together and saved me during one of the most heartbreaking times of my life. Writing is a talent my dad passed on to me. Every time I create these characters and stories to share with you, my reader, I will remember that my dad lives on through me.

I hope One Night Only warms your heart and brings you comfort and joy. It is truly a gift and an honor to have you as my reader. Thank you.

With love,

Jayci Lee
