JEAN TEILLET is an author, lecturer and Indigenous rights lawyer. She has made profound contributions to Indigenous reconciliation in treaty negotiations and rights litigation, including twelve appearances at the Supreme Court of Canada. She is a great-grandniece of Louis Riel and the recipient of the Lincoln M. Alexander Award, the Order of the Métis Nation, the Indigenous Peoples Council award, a Meritorious Service Cross, a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, as well as three honorary doctorates from the University of Guelph, the Law Society of Ontario and the University of Windsor. Teillet is a sought-after speaker in Canada and internationally on issues of Indigenous rights, justice, history and governance. A graduate of the University of Toronto, she lives in Vancouver.
