Last Thought

Well, you did it. You got to the end, and you know more about how you can create belonging. I hope you’re inspired. Very few people take the time to learn what you’ve just read. I think even fewer take a risk to use these ideas to connect to others and create “3 a.m. friends.” If you do this, then you have my respect indeed. It won’t always be fun. People won’t always like you. You may feel silly many times. It is how the best parts of our lives are created.

Please remember that this book is offered as an inspiration with principles you can apply or refine when you are ready. It is no more than that. Your community can be great if it is growing members to be more generous, healthy, and supportive without matching each page I’ve shared.

I can’t wait to learn what you create. I leave you with this wisdom that inspires me when I want to hold back because I’m tired, or feel weak or afraid:

We have all known the long loneliness

and we have learned that the only solution is love

and that love comes with community.

It all happened while we sat there talking,

and it is still going on.

My team helps me create books, workshops, and community, and we would love to hear about your successes, failures, and challenges and how you’re growing. We only do this to create a positive difference, and we only know if our efforts are making a difference if you tell us. The world is desperate for connection, and this is one way we can support it.

Go defeat loneliness. Create belonging. The world is waiting for it.

Godspeed.
