If you’re a regular reader of my Pack books, you know I write about wolf-shifters, vampires, faeries, dragons and other assorted paranormal species. I’ve never before had a shape-shifting bear. But I was in a teleconference with the Nocturne editors and other authors and one editor made an offhand remark about how much she’d love to see a bear shifter. So I decided to write one.

The animal my hero changes into wasn’t the only thing different about this book. I wanted to explore the idea that a man could still be an alpha male while also being a nurturer. Raising—and protecting—a three-month-old son allowed Eric Mikkelson to be exactly that.

I loved these people and this town—the same lovely upstate town where my last Drakkor shape-shifter book took place. I hope you enjoy reading this story as much as I enjoyed writing it!
