ABOUT THE AUTHORS

For the entire seven-season run of The West Wing, MELISSA FITZGERALD played C.J. Cregg’s ever-present, ever-buoyant, and dutiful assistant Carol Fitzpatrick. When the series came to a close, Melissa made the move from fictional staffer to real-world advocate, relocating to Washington, DC, where, ever since, she’s worked tirelessly in the rooms where it happens. In her role with All Rise, she advocates for treatment courts and justice reform and has become a seminal voice in the movement. (Oh—also, she’s a much better speller than she’s given credit for.)

As Commander Kate Harper, MARY McCORMACK served as the Bartlet administration’s sly, wry deputy national security advisor from season 5 through the series finale. When she’s not busy on-screen, Mary’s time is spent raising exactly three daughters and precisely one husband. Outside of those career and family obligations, she is honored to serve as an ambassador for Justice for Vets and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. As the proud daughter of a US Marine, Mary holds all veterans causes close to her heart, but taking part in the National Memorial Day Concert on the West Lawn of the United States Capitol Building has become an annual highlight.
