BASKET PATTERN

BASE
Cast on 2 sts using A and size 5 (3.75mm) needles.
Row 1 K2.
Work as
i-cord as follows:
Row 2 Kfb twice. 4 sts.
Row 3 Kfb 4 times. 8 sts.
Row 4 Divide sts: k3 onto n1, k2 onto n2, k3 onto n3.
With RS facing, work in the round as follows:
Rnd 5 [K1, kfb] 4 times. 12 sts.
Rnd 6 [K2, kfb] 4 times. 16 sts.

Rnd 7 [K3, kfb] 4 times. 20 sts.
Rnd 8 [K4, kfb] 4 times. 24 sts.
Cont to inc 4 sts on every rnd until there are 15 sts before each inc. 68 sts.
Place marker. Work 2 rnds without shaping.
Bind off. Weave in ends.
If necessary, press with a cool iron to flatten the base into a disk.

RIM
Cast on 8 sts using A and size 5 (3.75mm) needles.
Row 1 K2, p2, k2, p2.
Row 2 Rep last row.
Row 3 Rep last row.
Row 4 P2, k2, p2, k2.
Row 5 Rep last row.
Row 6 Rep last row.
Rep rows 1–6 until work measures the same as the circumference of the base.
Bind off.

MAKING UP
Oversew cast-on and bind-off edges on the rim. Then oversew the base to the rim. Fold the top of the rim to the inside of the basket and stitch in place if you wish.
