Chapter 15
Aubrey
I arrive at the office just before nine o’clock and I am greeted by Honey when I get off the elevator on the fifth floor. “Why hello, girl,” I say as I give her a good head rub but trying not to let her lean against my black dress. I will have to invest in a lint brush and leave it here at the office. “Where is Jack, huh?” She doesn’t answer, obviously, but then I hear raised voices coming from down the hall. Well, at least one voice. I have to pass the fifth-floor conference room to get to my office and as I get closer the voice becomes clearer. I am just about to walk past as the door opens and Jack walks out seeing me with Honey trailing close behind. I pause for a minute, and I can see into the room. Wolf is standing there alone, his face a little flushed. It must have been his voice I heard.
“Hey, sweets,” Jack says to me and pulls me in for a hug and a little peck on the cheek. I am taken off guard, but he whispers to me, “Just go with it.” before he lets me go.
I am quick on the draw and say, “Good morning, handsome.” and give him a wink.
“Jack, I am warning you,” Wolf says as he starts to walk toward us.
“Come on, Honey,” Jack says as heads down to his office on the floor below. I carry on to my office and drop my purse in my desk drawer but before I can sit down Wolf is standing just inside my door.
“You cannot date employees.”
“Excuse me?”
“You heard what I said, you are not to date any employees while you are working for me. I hope I have made myself clear,” then he walks out of my office.
What the actual fuck?
There is no way I am letting him get away with talking to me like that. I head out of my office and storm into his. He is standing behind his desk looking out the window.
“Are you fucking serious?” I say, standing just a few feet inside his office. He whips around, surely, he thought the conversation was done.
“I am serious, and I would like to remind you, Ms. Bishop, that I am your employer. You should watch how you address me,” he says completely stiff and arrogant.
“You want me to watch how I speak to you?! How dare you tell me who I can and cannot date. If I want to date someone at Lawson's that is not against any company policy. I will date who I want when I want!” I am so angry that there must be steam coming from my ears at this point.
“You. Will. Not. Date. Jack,” he says slowly as if I am not understanding the situation. I take slow deliberate steps toward his desk and place both my hands on it. From this distance, I can see that his jaw is tightly clenched.
“Listen here, Sparky. You do not have the right to dictate my life. I am in control, you are not.” I stand up straight and walk my fine ass out of that office because I don’t care to hear anything else he has to say.

Wolf
That woman infuriates me, but I should have been more prepared. I knew that there was no way she was going to agree to something easily. She is going to go down swinging. Hopefully, she goes down sooner than later. I adjust my now raging hard-on in my slacks. Thank God I was standing behind my desk chair or she would have seen how much our conversation affected me. Sparky? Another fucking dog joke. I shake my head and chuckle.
“So, she went out on a date with Jack, huh?”
Oh, fuck!
I look over to my left and I see Nate sitting on the loveseat, his feet up on the coffee table, and his phone in his hand. How did I not see him there? Shit! He was here through the whole argument. I close my eyes and pinch the bridge of my nose. He saw me adjust my cock after fighting with his sister. I am dead. I am pretty well built but Nate is a huge man, he is going to murder me. I open my eyes to see Nate watching me.
Before I have a chance to say whatever bullshit excuse I could make up on the spot for my behavior, Nate stands up and says, “Good for Jack. He is a decent guy and might even make a good brother-in-law someday.”
He can’t possibly think that Jack is right for her! The thought of Jack touching Aubrey, kissing her, fuck… marrying her is more than enough to put me in a spin. My heart is pounding wildly and keeping a steady breath is proving to be impossible. I am slipping far over the edge for this woman.
Nate walks toward me, slaps my arm, and says, “Don’t worry about her Wolf. She can handle herself.”
Then he walks out of my office.
