Mom life has made me super creative when it comes to feeding the little one, sneaking vegetables in where I can and making things fun so they will actually want to eat them. Recently, we took a family trip to D.C. and had bagel bombs from a well-known bakery. They were so fun to eat and delicious that my little one ate three. So, now I turn anything into a “bomb.” (These sloppy joe pouches are great for football parties, too.)
Prep Time:

Cook Time:
25 minutes
Serves:
6
Nonstick cooking spray
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 pound ground venison
1 small onion, diced
½ cup ketchup
1½ teaspoons garlic powder
1½ teaspoons chili powder
½ teaspoon mustard powder
3 (8-ounce) tubes crescent rolls or crescent roll sheets
6 tablespoons sloppy joe mix, divided
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
¼ cup melted unsalted butter
Everything bagel seasoning (optional)
1.
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Coat a 12-cup muffin pan with cooking spray.
2.
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt the butter. Add the venison and onion, and use a wooden spoon to break the meat up into small crumbles. Cook until the meat is no longer pink, about 5 minutes. Stir in the ketchup, garlic powder, chili powder, and mustard powder; cook for 1 more minute, then remove the skillet from the heat.
3.
Place the crescent rolls or sheets on a clean work surface. If using rolls, pinch the perforated lines together. Using a rolling pin, gently roll out the dough to an even ¼-inch thickness. Using a 4-inch round cookie cutter, make 12 circles.
4.
Place 1 tablespoon of the sloppy joe mix in the center of each circle, and top with 2 teaspoons of the cheese. Dab your finger with water, and wet the edges of the dough circles. Bring up all the edges to make a small pouch, and pinch to seal.
5.
Place the bombs in the prepared muffin pan. Use a pastry brush to brush the tops with the melted butter. Sprinkle with the bagel seasoning (if using). Bake for 15 to 17 minutes, until golden brown. Serve immediately.
