The president of the United States has an official seal that represents his or her office and authority. The eagle in the center holds an olive branch, symbolizing peace, in one claw and arrows, symbolizing power, in the other claw. The eagle holds in its beak a banner that says E PLURIBUS UNUM, Latin meaning “From the Many— One.” The eagle is surrounded by fifty stars for the many states that form one country.
