Susan Ottaway’s Recommended Reading

There are several other excellent books about SOE women agents, including:

Spy Princes—The Life of Noor Inayat Khan by Shrabani Basu (Sutton Publishing, 2006 and The History Press, 2008)

The Heroines of SOE F Section—Britain’s Secret Women in France by Squadron Leader Beryl E. Escott (The History Press, 2010)

The Spy Who Loved by Clare Mulley (Macmillan, 2012)

She Landed by Moonlight: The Story of Secret Agent Pearl Witherington: The “Real Charlotte Gray” by Carole Seymour-Jones (Hodder & Stoughton, 2013)

A Life in Secrets: Vera Atkins and the Missing Agents of WWII by Sarah Helm (Abacus, 2005).

There is obviously a common theme in these books, as they are all about women who worked for the SOE. However, their stories and experiences were quite different so readers will find something new in each of them.
