Coloring Resin Clay

This is one messy procedure, so be sure to wear your disposable gloves. Knead the paint into your resin clay until you get a consistent color (there is no specific ratio of paint to clay, but this does work best with white resin clay). Darker shades of acrylic will produce more saturated colors. Resin clay can take paint beautifully and can be painted in either its wet or fully cured state. Powdered pigments (such as Pearl Ex) can also be brushed onto the surface of uncured clay or brushed into a mold before you press the resin clay in, for even more color options.

STEP ONE: Put acrylic paint on top of the resin clay and fold it over. Be sure to wear disposable gloves to protect your hands from the paint.

STEP TWO: Knead well to color the clay.
