To create a sunken relief, just coat your object of choice with cooking spray and start layering strips of wet plaster gauze onto it, pressing the gauze against the object with a stiff brush as you go. Pry out your object after the plaster sets.
A raised relief is made by layering wet strips of plaster gauze in a silicone mold, pressing with a stiff brush into all the nooks and crannies of your mold, and removing the plaster after setting.
STEP ONE: For a sunken relief, coat an object with cooking spray first.
STEP TWO: Apply wet plaster gauze in three layers, smoothing them out as you go and pressing the gauze down with a stiff brush.
STEP THREE: Turn it over after letting it harden for about an hour, then pry the object out of the set plaster gauze.

Warm water helps the plaster gauze set up faster and makes it easier to smooth out the plaster.
