Making a Fiber Paste Sheet (or Skin)

Fiber paste sheets or skins can be left natural, tinted or painted. You can cut them into shapes, make mosaics out of them, create deconstructed stencils and even print on them.

STEP ONE: Tape plastic wrap to your work surface or use a polypropylene cutting board as your surface.

STEP TWO: Add a small amount of acrylic paint to your fiber paste and mix thoroughly to tint.

STEP THREE: Spread fiber paste on the plastic wrap, making sure it goes over the tape’s edge.

STEP FOUR: When completely dry, use the tape to help peel off the paste.

The fiber paste skin can be cut into shapes and painted with acrylics or watercolor.
