Making a Putty Mold

Amazing Mold Putty and Ranger Melt Art Mold-n-Pour are both two-part molding compounds. Take two equal amounts of Part A and Part B (enough to make your mold) and knead them together until mixed thoroughly.

Place on your textured object and wait approximately 15 minutes; the putty should feel rubbery by then. Peel off the mold and you are ready to start making your molded objects. This technique works best with lower relief objects (1" depth or less).

STEP ONE: Following the manufacturer’s instructions, take equal parts of A and B and mix thoroughly.

STEP TWO: Place the mixed putty on your object, pressing around its form. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes.

STEP THREE: Once the putty feels rubbery, peel it off your object and it is then ready to use.

STEP FOUR: You can also mold other materials such as molding paste and resin (shown here). Place resin (or clay or clay alternative) into the mold and remove it when dry or cured. The object can be trimmed wet or when dried.

Molding Putty Troubleshooting

If the molding putty is not mixed thoroughly, it will not set up.
