CHAPTER THREE

Molding Putty

CLASSICAL CAST FACES

Darlene Olivia McElroy

Top face: ClayShay (powdered clay), Burnt Umber paint with gold rub.

Left face: Paperclay, gold leaf and stain.

Right face: Critter Clay, natural.

After making your first mold with this amazing product, you are going to want to make molds of everything. Seashells, bracelets, manhole covers—the possibilities are endless. If you have something too precious to glue to your art, make a mold of it and cast it in the variety of ways shown in this book. Carry this product with you at all times, as you never know when the mood will strike to cast something you see.

Once you have made your mold, try casting with the following: paperclay, resin clay, fiber paste, soft or hard gel, modeling (molding) paste and pumice gel. This may take some experimenting on your part. The ones mentioned (with the exception of resin clay) can all be trimmed once they are cured or dried.
