BALANCING ACT
Patricia Chapman
3-D cast resin pieces, paper mache covered, stamped and painted Styrofoam balls, wood base.
With this simple 3-D casting technique, you can easily create one-piece block molds. Using silicone RTV (room temperature vulcanization), you can make fully dimensional, flexible molds with fantastic detail that can be used to cast objects dozens of times. You can cast in resin, plaster or powdered clay like Clayshay. We prefer the resin because of its durability, but they all are fun to make. You will need an object with a base large enough to adhere to the bottom of your mold box that will also be large enough to pour the casting material into.
