Shown is the basic template for the pieces needed to build yourself a cardboard house using paper mache to cover it. Feel free to make it whatever size suits you, to change proportions, and to add more windows or perhaps a chimney.
STEP ONE: Trace your own pattern pieces onto cardboard and cut out the pieces.
STEP TWO: Glue together the cut pieces using hot glue.
STEP THREE: Cover the house with paper mache, stamping on some texture if desired. Let dry.
STEP FOUR: Once the house is dry, add paint and let dry.
STEP FIVE: Drybrush metallic gold paint over the base paint.
STEP SIX: Brush on a dark acrylic glaze and wipe off to accent recessed areas.
STEP SEVEN: To cover the door and windows, adhere the translucent rice paper (colored with a wash if desired) inside the house with a crafter’s premium white glue. To warm the house, add a battery-powered flickering tea light inside for an inviting glow.
