HELPFUL INFORMATION FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VICTIMS
The following information is helpful for any adult you suspect is a victim of domestic violence:
- First and foremost, violence against you is not acceptable. Not even one time!
- It is not your fault; the blame lies with the abuser.
- You cannot help a violent partner by yourself. Get help; call 911.
- Leave before violence occurs again. Get help from a friend your partner does not know.
- Get a restraining order.
- Partner abuse may be physical, psychological, sexual, or the destruction of property. All of these are abuse.
- Allowing abuse to continue does not honor God and is not consistent with Scripture. (Ephesians 5:21 calls for mutual submission.)
