HELPFUL INFORMATION FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VICTIMS

The following information is helpful for any adult you suspect is a victim of domestic violence:

  1. First and foremost, violence against you is not acceptable. Not even one time!
  2. It is not your fault; the blame lies with the abuser.
  3. You cannot help a violent partner by yourself. Get help; call 911.
  4. Leave before violence occurs again. Get help from a friend your partner does not know.
  5. Get a restraining order.
  6. Partner abuse may be physical, psychological, sexual, or the destruction of property. All of these are abuse.
  7. Allowing abuse to continue does not honor God and is not consistent with Scripture. (Ephesians 5:21 calls for mutual submission.)
