“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). Jesus forgives us; however, we often are not as quick to forgive ourselves or others. Wrapped up in the whole topic of forgiveness is our ongoing struggle with shame, guilt, and God’s grace.
This section briefly touches on the challenges of dealing with forgiveness, the lies that so often surround the subject of forgiveness, the benefits of forgiveness, and some of the how-tos.
When he was reunited with his estranged brother Esau, Jacob declared, “For to see your face is like seeing the face of God, now that you have received me favorably” (Genesis 33:10). That is a description of forgiveness.
