It didn’t take long for news to spread. Once they were seen out in public together and a ring was on her finger, the media went insane. Brenley and Zane were the hottest couple out there. They had made it through being framed and ultimately came out on top.
Their assailants were now in prison, waiting to be tried for crimes they would surely be convicted of. Zane spoke up for only one person, Jarod Cormack. Zane claimed that he had been instrumental in helping them solve the mystery. Also that he unwillingly did as he was told in order to protect his family.
The only thing left unsolved was the initial letter Brenley had received, alerting her to Frederickson’s illegal activity. A few weeks later they finally got their answer. They were contacted by Frederickson’s soon-to-be ex-wife requesting a meeting. When they met her for lunch one day, she spilled everything.
Two years ago she had discovered Frederickson had been cheating on her for some time. The betrayal was so hard for her, she vowed to do whatever it took to ruin him. Knowing that he cared more for his money than anything, she had a personal audit done on all their assets. What she had discovered surprised her.
The auditors found that Frederickson was evading taxes and investing money that could only be illegal. The catch was they couldn’t figure out how to prove it. They did know he was investing with Brenley though. From there she decided to send an anonymous note, so maybe someone else could discover the truth.
She apologized profusely for the danger she had put them both in. Neither of them believed her when she said she had no idea how dangerous of a situation it was. She was pleased to see Frederickson in prison and would now happily take more than her fair share of his wealth for his transgression.
Rather than move in to each other’s places, Zane wanted to start anew, allowing them a place to begin their life together. It was startling to Brenley, but there was still so much she didn’t know about Zane. When they went to buy their house he finally admitted how wealthy he was. Because he traded on the Commodity Futures markets and was a private investor he wasn’t required to release to the public how much he made. To her utter surprise he was nearly a billionaire. By making so much as an actor, he had been able to invest more.
Although his investment style differed greatly from Brenley’s, it had the potential to lend huge gains. She could hardly believe it when she found out. He wouldn’t let her tell anyone because it would make them more of a target if anyone knew how wealthy they were. She wondered how she had gotten so lucky to be engaged to a millionaire playboy turned best fiancé in the world.
It was already late November but they didn’t want to wait so they set a wedding date for right after the holidays. They were getting married in February and going to have the wedding of the year. It was all Brenley could do to plan the event. Zane was right by her side the entire time, helping her out. Of course it was even more difficult to plan when they couldn’t stay off each other. Their sex life had skyrocketed.
It was like a never-ending rollercoaster for each of them. Life was a blur leading up to their nuptials. It was interview after interview, wedding planning, or some other thing that neither of them was very keen on. It had taken them each twenty-something years to find each other and now that they had they wanted to spend every moment together.
The wedding was huge but the actual ceremony was only privy to a select few friends and family from each party. The reception was grandiose but they wanted a memory that would last. They wanted their love to be known to everyone. Finishing with the reception, they finally made it to the limousine that took them to Zane’s and now Brenley’s private jet.
She didn’t know where they were heading yet but could bet that it was going to be phenomenal. Boarding the plane she gave a glance back to her husband. He was looking up at her, sharing the love they both felt for each other. Somehow they always knew when the other was thinking about them. It was incredible how much their connection defied possibility. Their luggage was loaded on to the jet, and they were prepping for takeoff.
Zane got out of his seat, and moved in front of Brenley. Lowering himself to his knees, he looked into her eyes. He knew he had made the best and most important decision of his life with her. It was one that would define him in ways he didn’t yet know but would always cherish. Looking into her eyes, he spoke softly.
“I love you, Brenley Anthony. You are now mine always and forever. Nothing will separate us. I will fight for you until the end of the earth. This is the happiest day of my life.” He couldn’t stop smiling.
“I love you, Zane Anthony. My husband. I will never abandon you or forsake you. I will stand by your side, through whatever we may face. You are mine and I am yours. Nothing can change that now. Today is the happiest day of my life too!”
Embracing each other with a passionate kiss, Zane returned to his seat for the takeoff. Once they were airborne there was nothing that could keep them apart. The primal desire he had felt for Brenley was only growing stronger. As he looked into Brenley’s eyes, Zane thought there was nothing in this world he wouldn’t do for her…
