This dessert is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser for guests of all ages. For a dozen sundaes, you’ll need only a half-recipe of brownies, but I’d make the whole batch, put them all out, and freeze the extras, if you are fortunate enough to end up with any. For a crowd, it’s probably easiest just to put out all the fixings and let guests help themselves.
½ recipe Margaret Hess’s Best Fudge Brownies, cut into 3-inch squares
2 to 3 pints good-quality vanilla ice cream
Whipped cream and broken walnuts
For each sundae, set a brownie on a plate. Top with a ½-cup scoop of vanilla ice cream. Drizzle a couple of spoonfuls of the fudge sauce over the ice cream and top with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkling of walnuts.
