After being discharged, I went home and sat at my computer.

I stared at the blank screen and randomly looked down at my bare ring finger.

I felt at peace.

I had thoughts swarming in my ADHD brain (as usual) but they didn’t annoy me for this first time in forever.

A beast, similar to my book, came to town the same time I did and caused havoc in the city of Hell. My parents somehow knew to provide the very weapons I needed in order to fight it. One of the ghosts in this haunted house showed me where they were hidden.

All that had recently occurred had something to do with me returning to Hell. I couldn’t figure out why. But my gut was telling me that I’d find out in due time. It also was inching me towards thinking that this wouldn’t be the only crazy event to happen to me or the town while I stayed here.

These thoughts begot my creative mind to begin working again like never before.

Suddenly, story ideas began to formulate.

I thought of characters. I thought of interesting plots. I thought of twists. I thought of endings.

As if possessed, my hands started typing.

Before I knew it, since I had no concept of time, I saw the word count at the bottom of my Word Doc: 5,164 words. I had written the first chapter to my next book.

To borrow a quote from my biblical upbringing in the book of Genesis: I saw what I had created, and it was good.
