Respect for Elders and Teachers
Ask the people of knowledge (who remember Allah much), if you do not know. (al-Qur’an 21:7)

said: ‘Whenever a young person honours an old man because of his age, Allah will give him someone to honour him when he is old’. (Tirmidhi)

THE PROPHET Ibrahim 
(Abraham) was the first person to see grey hair. He inquired, ‘O Lord, what is this?’ Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said, ‘It is a sign of dignity, O Ibrahim.’ ‘O Lord, increase me in dignity,’ he replied’. (Malik)

THE PROPHET said: ‘Truly, I have been sent as a teacher’. (Darimi)

MUʿAWIYAH ibn al-Hakam al-Sulami 
said: ‘By my father and mother, (I swear that) I never saw a teacher, before or after him, who was a better teacher than the Messenger of Allah . By God, he never shouted at me, or punished me, or insulted me’. (Darimi)
