Brotherhood

The believers are nothing else than brothers (in faith). So make peace between your brothers; and fear Allah, in order that you may receive mercy. (al-Qur’an 49:10)

THE PROPHET images said: ‘None of you is truly a believer until he wishes for his brother what he wishes for himself’. (Muslim)

THE PROPHET images said: ‘O people, your Lord is One and your ancestor (Adam) is one. There is no superiority for an Arab over a non-Arab, nor for a non-Arab over an Arab, nor for a fair-skinned person over a person with dark skin, nor for a dark-skinned person over a person with fair skin. Whoever is more pious and God-fearing is more deserving of honour’. (Ahmad)

THE PROPHET images said: ‘Whoever fulfils the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfil his needs on the Day of Resurrection; whoever eases his brother’s difficulty, Allah will ease his difficulty in this life and on the Day of Resurrection; and whoever covers up (the hidden faults of) a Muslim, Allah will cover his hidden faults (from the view of other people) in this life and the hereafter’. (Muslim, Tirmidhi)

THE PROPHET images said: ‘It is unlawful for a Muslim to avoid and refuse to speak to his fellow Muslim for more than three (days). (It is unlawful for them to behave in such a way) that when they meet, one of them turns his face away from the other, and the other turns his face from the first. The better of the two is the one who greets the other first with salam’. (Bukhari)

THE PROPHET images said: ‘Help your brother whether he does wrong, or is wronged. A man asked, ‘O Messenger of Allah! I will help him if he is wronged, but how can I help him if he does something wrong?’
The Prophet images replied, ‘By preventing him from his wrongdoing, for that is helping him’. (Bukhari)

THE PROPHET images said: ‘A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim. He does not oppress him, abandon him, or look down on him. Righteousness is here,’ he said, and he pointed towards his chest three times.
‘It is bad enough for a Muslim to look down on his fellow Muslim.
A Muslim should consider that everything that belongs to his brother has a special, protected status: his blood, his wealth and his honour’. (Muslim)
