Treatment of Animals and the Environment
There is not an animal (living) on the earth, nor a creature that flies with two wings which does not belong to a community like you (humans). (al-Qur’an 6:38)

saw me, he said: Be gentle, for gentleness adorns everything in which it is found, and its absence leaves everything tainted’. (Ahmad)

ABDULLAH ibn Masʿūd reports: ‘We were travelling with Allah’s Messenger
(…when) we saw a humarah bird with her two chicks, and we captured her chicks. The mother bird came and began to flutter her wings. Then the Prophet
came and said, “Who has made this bird miserable by snatching her chicks? Return her chicks to her”. He also saw an ant colony that we had burnt. He asked, “Who has burnt this?” “We did”, we replied. He said, “It is not right for anyone but the Lord of fire to punish with fire”’. (Abu Dawud)

THE PROPHET said: ‘Anyone who kills even a sparrow for no reason (should know that) it will cry aloud to Allah on the Day of Resurrection, saying, ‘O my Lord! So-and-so killed me just for fun; he killed me for no good reason’! (Nasa’i)
